At 11am we will have our Annual General Meeting on Zoom. Relevant documents including Chairs Statement, Accounts etc. will be added to this post nearer the time.
Everyone is welcome whether you are a current member or not although we do ask if you are not a member that you don’t nominate, second or agree to an appointment.
The meeting will consist of reading some reports on what Stockport ME Group has been doing this past year and what our plans are for the current year.
The only unusual item on the agenda is that we are planning on having it agreed that there will be a special general meeting Jan-Feb where we will be considering changing our name to something like Stockport ME/CFS and Long Covid Group. The reason for this is that whilst we have always included people with Long Covid as soon as such a term existed people with Long Covid have not always felt welcome where our name does not include them. We do not want to make a decision until we have heard from all members who wish to share on this issue and we do have some members who are not able to attend our meetings but read our newsletter and so we wanted to wait until the next newsletter is out which probably wont be in time for the AGM. The possible name change does not in anyway change how Stockport ME Group would be run, just that we are more inclusive to the communities we aim to serve. It might improve eligibility for some funding streams but that is not a primary reason for the change. We are not planning on discussing the proposed name change in the meeting.
You do not need to read the reports before attending they are just there in case you want to look at them. This meeting is going to be recorded but it will not be shared to our members. It is just being recorded to help the minutes secretary.
