There has been some coverage in the news about Long Covid services closing end of March 2025 and we would like to reassure people that this is not the case in Greater Manchester. Services for Long Covid are continuing in Greater Manchester but they are under review.
We have been working closely with Greater Manchester Integrated Care as part of this process and two of our committee members Ben Wickens and Alanna Germon are part of an NHS steering group looking at ME/CFS and Long Covid Services in Greater Manchester.
There will be opportunities for patients to have their say in what they think these future services should be and we hope to soon be able to announce dates for public patient involvement sessions in April 2025.
It is our hope that everyone with ME/CFS and Long Covid will have access to effective NHS services wherever they are in Greater Manchester. It also could include some edge cases of people who live technically outside Greater Manchester but for whom parts of Greater Manchester provide the relevant services e.g. Glossop.
Unfortunately this is not the same situation in East Cheshire where we have some members who have recently been told that services are stopping. A (belated) review of this closure did take place and Stockport ME Group still plans on submitting a statement on this matter.
