Charities
Stockport ME Group – we cover all of Greater Manchester and surrounding areas. We have multiple online meetings each month and usually one face to face. To date almost all of our face to face events have been in Stockport or occasionally Manchester. Membership includes East Cheshire and most of Greater Manchester. ME/CFS and Long Covid and people with infection associated illnesses like fibromyalgia are welcome.
Greater Manchester Long Covid Support – Covering all of Greater Manchester for Long Covid. Online meetings every 2 weeks, face to face meetings generally in Manchester and Whatsapp group
Bury and Bolton ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia Support Group – This charity is winding down and will stop on March 2027 but it is hoped that their Facebook, Whatsapp and informal face to face meets at a garden centre will continue. Includes ME/CFS, Long Covid and Fibromyalgia. They have a public Facebook group here as well as a closed group for signed up current members.
Informal Groups
Tameside – A good number of our members come from Tameside but there is also www.cidsg.org which has two meetings a month for anyone with a chronic illness. It was at one point called “Fibro Fighters”
Salford and Trafford – Salford and Trafford ME Group offers one meeting in Salford and one meeting in Trafford face to face each month. Also has Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1011611375546608/ Contact Tony Fryer for more information Telephone 0774 858 1622 E-mail tony12.fryer@gmail.com or contact via Facebook group
At present we are not aware of any face to face groups meeting in Oldham, Rochdale or Wigan. It might be possible that we can work with either interested individuals or NHS ME/CFS and Long Covid NHS services to address these gaps.
Outside Greater Manchester
High Peak Survive and Thrive Support Group meet once a month face to face and once online. Includes Fibromyalgia, ME/CFS and other post viral conditions including Long Covid
Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales – Chester MESH (Chester ME CFS Self-Help) is a Chester UK based self-help group for people with ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), or their carers, from Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales. They have a Facebook group but we are unclear what other activities might take place
