How to join The Stockport ME Group
To become a member please complete the form at the bottom. If you would like a free membership ( we give one out to anyone who asks for one without question), want to pay in a different method ( direct bank transfer or PayPal Donate) or just want to pay a different amount than the standard £12 ( people are welcome to donate less or more than our suggested rate) then you can do so from this page here.
If you are a UK tax payer then we would appreciate if you could complete our gift aid form too (or select the box in our electronic form) as that adds a good amount extra to whatever contribution you make.
Stockport ME Group relies on Membership to meet most of our costs. We do not however want to exclude anyone from being or feeling part of what we do because of money. Our standard rate of membership is £12 although people are welcome to pay more or even join for free. Our membership renews about October time so if you are joining much later in the season such as May for example you might wish to pay £6 initially. Anyone joining in August/September will count as joining for the 24-25 season with September being thrown in for free.
We are always happy to have non-members come along to one or two of our meetings to see if our group is right for them but we do encourage people who are regularly involved in the group to join. Also to receive our Newsletter HERMES, borrow equipment or books, receive Benefits and Work Guides, get support beyond basic signposting or to participate in some of our events and activities you would need to join.
Once you have completed the membership form you should get an automatic response and then usually within a few days but occasionally in as long as 3 weeks you will get an email from someone on the committee confirming receipt of your membership. If you do not get this then please get in touch with us. Occasionally we have run into issues with a form getting lost in the ether and not reaching us.
In the 2023-24 season we were able to get funding from Stockport Council for people in Stockport with Long Covid for them to have memberships paid for, we have not been able to secure this moving forward as those funds have shrunk.
